The Huawei P9 is expected to arrive this month, while the HTC 10 Lifestyle will most likely be released in May 2016. The latter will be a weaker variant of the newly launched HTC 10, but which has the same screen size, cameras and battery. Today we’re going to compare the Huawei P9 flagship with the HTC 10 Lifestyle and let you decide which one suits your needs better.
Designs
The Huawei P9 measures 145x70.9x7mm and weights 144 grams. On the other hand, the HTC 10 Lifestyle is thicker and heavier as it measures 145.9x71.9x9mm and weights 161 grams. Both devices have their bodies made of aluminum, but the P9 has a glass strip at the top of its back, instead of a thin line, and there you’ll find the two rear cameras. The HTC 10 Lifestyle lacks a fingerprint scanner and has its rear camera located in the top center.
Displays
The Huawei P9 has an IPS-NEO LCD display of 5.2-inch that supports a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels at 423 ppi and it’s protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The HTC 10 Lifestyle comes with a super LCD5 display of the same size, but it supports a higher resolution of 2560x1440 pixels at 565 ppi and it’s protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 4.
Processors, Graphics Cards & RAM
The Huawei P9 features a HiSilicon Kirin 955 chipset, an octa-core processor formed from a quad-core Cortex A72 CPU clocked at 2.5GHz and a quad-core Cortex A53 CPU clocked at 1.8GHz, a Mali-T880 MP4 graphics card and 3GB or 4GB of RAM. The HTC 10 Lifestyle has a Qualcomm MSM8976 Snapdragon 652 chipset, an octa-core processor formed from a quad-core Cortex A72 CPU clocked at 1.8GHz and a quad-core Cortex A53 CPU clocked at 1.2GHz, an Adreno 510 graphics card and 3GB of RAM.
Opposite the most important downgrade of HTC 10 Lifestyle versus HTC 10 worth noting is that in both cases we are talking of a Snapdragon. If the peak device will be about a SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, as in LG G5 or Galaxy S7, while Lifestyle version use a SoC Snapdragon 652. The amount of RAM is also a bit lower, only 3GB for HTC 10 Lifestyle instead of 4GB in the premium version.
Those from Huawei hopes their own processors and P9 model integrates a Hisilicon Kirin 955. It has four cores and 2.5GHz quad-core at 1,8Ghz and is a competitor to be reckoned with the Snapdragon 820. We've tested the model with 3GB RAM, but there is also a version with 4GB RAM. The performances are good and the experience offered by the phone is fluid. In normal use situations, Huawei P9 is excellent but when they start to update their apps, there is little lag in the menus and applications. I'll be back with more details when I have tested the efficiency of the phone capabilities more leisurely.
