Huawei Ascend G6 4G – Best Design and Screen For The Price

Huawei is the largest manufacturer of telecommunications systems worldwide, but in recent years has turned to the area of consumer technology launching Android phones targeted to those with low budgets. Recently, however, the Chinese manufacturer started launching increasingly competitive models in all market segments. However, the bulk of the business of the company's mobile devices are at mid-range category, where Huawei continues to release quality products at reasonable prices, such a device is the new Ascend G6.
Construction and Design
Although Huawei never tries to impress with its mobile design, the company has developed a characteristic style. G6 design lends such lines from his older brothers Ascend P6 and Ascend P7.
It has a display of 4.5", standard capacitive buttons, front camera, light sensor, microphone and speaker, each positioned exactly where we expected. All around the screen, the plastic casing is a little high, plastic to protect the display from scratches when the phone is placed face down.
The jack is also located like on other Huawei models on the left side, a decision that will disturb those who use a headset with 90 degree plug. On the right side we only have the volume buttons and the power button, which have a pleasant texture, and on top was placed the micro-USB socket.
On the back of the phone we can actually see the 8 megapixel camera equipped with LED flash. Plastic housing is removable and hides the micro SIM card and the micro SD card. While the cover can be easily removed (being fixed with plastic feet), the battery is not removable, above it is attached a NFC module.
The entire device is constructed of plastic and does not have Gorilla Glass, which can bring itself to display more apparent scratches. Fingerprints are very evident in the display after a few hours of use, but not the rest of the phone's outer casing is made of plastic mat.

Screen, hardware, specifications, autonomy
If I have anything to complain about this phone is that it would be the 4.5" Huawei display not being HD. QHD resolution (960 x 540 pixels) that we have at hand is decent, but for its diagonal we were hoping for a minimum of 1280 x 720. Fortunately, the G6 is an IPS panel that provides natural colors and very wide viewing angles. Another thing that disappointed me was that the light sensor is not properly appreciated by the brightness level when activated the "auto brightness". In natural light, highest setting is recommended, but in low light, it is possible that the lowest setting is not enough. For a pleasant user experience, we recommend using manual brightness control bar from settings display.
In terms of hardware, we deal with common specifications for market share and price that fits this model. 400 quad-core Snapdragon processor at 1.2 GHz performs better than I expected, being able to offer a user experience without heaviness or large waiting times. This is due to the fact that the Emotion UI interface applied over Android 4.3 is very well optimized.
The internal storage is 8GB, but only six are available for use. This space is divided into two, 2 GB and 4 GB for application and data storage. 2 GB is enough to download some common applications from Google Play Store, but not enough when you want to download large games. Also, if you want to take after you a library of music or movies and tb series, the 4 GB is not enough, and a memory card may be absolutely necessary for the G6.
  • Display: 4.5", 960 x 540 pixel IPS
  • OS: Android 4.3
  • Processor: ARM Cortex-A7, 1.2 GHz, quad-core
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (MSM 8926)
  • Graphics Processor: Adreno 302
  • Memory: 8 GB
  • RAM: 1 GB
  • Front camera: 5 MP
  • Back Camera: 8 MP
Autonomy
I was pleasantly surprised by the battery. With 4G enabled permanent and push the mail settings like Facebook contacts, brightness at 70% and normal use, we were able to exceed 24 hours of autonomy with G6. Interruption of 4G data connection or change settings on 3G certainly can provide more hours of use, and the Power Saving menu includes profiles that can help in this regard. The entire test was made on Smart mode, allocating dynamically processing resources, as needed.
Software and Telephony
As Huawei Ascend G6 4G is running the same version of Android (4.3) and the same interface (UI Emotion 2.0 Lite) that we can see on the Huawei Ascend G630 model, I will not go into detail in this chapter. Both menus and customization options are absolutely identical, and analyzing them again would be counterproductive.
